The Eco-Friendly Cabin

This is an almost completely eco-friendly cabin site. Able for use in all four seasons. In the cabin, it has two stories. The main floor is one room. They have a pantry, a kitchen, and a living space all in one, so it really comes to show how much we actually need. The upstairs is a loft. It has a bed and that’s it for upstairs. On the porch, it has a removable screen. There is a couch, a chair, and a coffee table.

The solar panels create most of their electricity. A generator gives the rest of the energy when the solar panels can’t provide enough. For example, when it rains all day or just really cloudy. They are resourceful with choices of materials. For example, the porch is completely reused wood. These people only take what they need. How they cut down trees is they wait till they are dead or have fallen due to natural causes. They replant some trees and they plan to plant more later on in this journey. Due to rules, they are not able to remove any trees within 100ft of the road. They use a propane-powered barbecue. Choices of different gases such as natural gas are not available to their condition.

These people have a water-sustainable garden. They save rainwater to water the garden. Rainwater is also used for everything else there. It is hard to water it often because they don’t live there fully. In solution, a pump is used, powered by batteries. What is grown there is asparagus, mini garlic, red onion, peas, lettuce, corn, squash, cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, beans, and sunflowers.

In the future, they plan to make a house on the property to live full-time. For a better water source, the plan is to put in a well.

In conclusion, this amazing almost completely eco-friendly cabin is a role model for a better future on housing.
